About the CCRider Festival

Central City Mainstreet organized the CC Rider Community Festival and Bike Ride in 2001 to "stimulate business, residential, and recreational growth." The festival is run through a cooperative effort of the Mainstreet organization, the City of Central City, and an an army of volunteers and non-profit organizations.

CC Rider also thanks the following partners who make this community festival possible: City State Bank, Country Store, The Linn News-Letter, Central City Family Pharmacy and Iowa Telecom.

What is Mainstreet?

Central City Mainstreet is part of a nationwide program founded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to rehabilitate and revitalize America's downtown business districts.

The Main Street program is designed to improve all aspects of the downtown business district, including economic development, historic preservation, strengthening public participation, and making downtown a fun place to visit.

In 1985, the Iowa Legislature adopted the National Main Street Center's Four-Point approach to downtown revitalization by approving the establishment of Main Street Iowa within the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

There are 37 active Main Street Iowa Communities, one of the most successful state Main Street programs in the nation. Central City was accepted into the Main Street Iowa program in 2000. Because it is a locally driven program, all initiatives stem from local issues and concerns.

Our City...

Central City, Iowa, population 1157, is nestled in the Wapsipinicon River valley, approximately 20 minutes from Cedar Rapids, and a little over an hour away from the population centers of Dubuque, Davenport, Iowa City, and Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

Central City continues to be a popular destination for recreation and fun, home of three summer camps, the Linn County Fairgrounds, Meadow View Country Club golf course, and the extremely popular Pinicon Ridge County Park, which is filled to capacity with campers at that time of the year.

The CC Rider festival coincides with the popular Annual SPBGMA Sanctioned Bluegrass Festival & Fiddler's Jamboree, held annually at the Central City fairgrounds during the weekend of our festival.
